I explained to them that since the president had cancelled DACA, that I wouldn't be able to apply for AP, only being eligible to travel within the US. However, I told them that I was in the middle of adjusting my status, I even showed them the biometrics appointment letter.
So then I thought about it, and I would like for someone to tell me if I could apply for AP once I receive my new EAD (I-485 pending) to be able to travel abroad for work purposes, or should I not even attempt to travel abroad until I get my GC?
I'd like to say that my AOS case is pretty straight forward. I was inspected when I arrived to the US using a Visa, applied for DACA, I don't have criminal cases of any kind, married my high school sweetheart after dating 6 years, and just now going through the AOS through marriage process.
Thank you.

I believe you can apply for a travel permit while waiting for your green card. I didn’t, but I believe you can. Ask your lawyer.
