Look man (or woman),
I think that anyone that posts on this forum, if given control over what happens in regard to immigration, would undoubtedly choose to legalize Dreamers AND the rest of the 11 millions undocumented immigrants living in the country. I don't think anyone here thinks a border wall is a good idea, and would not choose to build one in a vacuum.
That being said, us having any sort of choice or control is not a reality. Those in power right now do not care about what is fair for you and me and our families. They don't see the realities that we have had to face. It's awful, but its real, has real consequences, and we have to deal with the messy reality.
Now, we can cling to ideology, or choose to engage in the messy politics of a confusing and often unjust world. I don't think anyone here is anti-Durbin on the basis that he is supporting us.
I think many, including myself, are frustrated with Durbin and far left organizations because they refuse to get their hands dirty at all. One could say that this is a brave and commendable position. However, this refusal to engage with the messy reality is a choice in itself that carries real consequences for real people. By remaining mounted on their ideological high horse and refusing to get their hands dirty, they are letting others have their will with us.
So, I ask you this: In a situation like the one we are faced with today, what is the best choice:
a) To refuse to get your hands dirty and negotiate because you are "above that'" and believe in fairness and just ideals but by doing this you allow and watch as others lose their DACA protections and their hope to live a productive life in America
b) Engage the world as it is, get your hands a little dirty, and allow an entire generation to thrive, succeed, and give them the opportunity to change the future of their people.

Thank you! Glad to see their are still people in this forum with common sense.
