For those of you thinking you can get more than 3 years of out an EAD that you get from this bill, that's incorrect.
We would all get an EAD that expires 3 years after the passage of the bill.
If you get an EAD the day the bill is passed, your EAD is good for 3 years.
If you request and get a new EAD 6 months before the bill expires, then you will get an EAD valid for 6 months.
There will be no way to get 4-5 years out of this. This is not an open-ended policy like DACA. This bill will come with an expiration date, and all EADs – no matter when you get them – will expire on that day.
That said, by that time, we would very likely see an extension of the bill, or hopefully a new bill that gives us green cards.
Could we get something better? Sure! But it's better than DACA ending for good, and us going to back to the shadows without the ability to work!
