They could've very easily passed laws to hunt us down like wild animals and eliminate us from the planet. Other nations do it, and get away with it. Being allowed to flaunt the immigration laws of the nation is an incredible privilege in and of itself. It is already a privilege that you can sit in DACA-status and DEMAND a greencard be served up to you on a silver platter. If you want to DEMAND a greencard, then you'd better have something they want, either family ties to this nation, job offer, advanced skills, or 500k USD. Anything else is peanuts.

This nation is not obligated to accept us, give us anything, or even do anything in our favor. The nation that is obligated, is known as your birth country, the one you ran away from.

Let me put it this way, it would certainly be a nice gesture from this nation to grant us the privilege of staying permanently and merging into the American Populace. I would certainly prefer to stay in the nation I know.
