This is actually good news, a step in the right direction. The more entangled DACA becomes in legalities the likely it is to remain around.

As for EAD, the program is tightly coupled with employment authorization. Basically, one cannot survive without the other for the mere reason that DACA alone induces economic damages for people under the program currently.

If this new regulation isn't challenged and becomes a reality, any attempts in the future to remove it will be black and white. Either both DACA and EADs are nixed or neither.

Regardless, the ultimate solution is to pass legislation to protect DACAers.
