It feels different to me because Dems want stricter border security and asylum reform so "Open Borders" can not be used against them in the next election. The 2023 bill showed they want more enforcement. This is more for their self-interest rather than ours and both parties want immigration to change
....This could also be in my head since we were out in the cold for the past 4 -6 years
