Yep. It confirms everything I've seen and heard about reform from this administration. Just read the comments posted below the article. If it's taken since May - just about 7 months- to just get healthcare legislation to the floor, they haven't yet debated it, let alone sign it, something that benefits the country and citizens primarily; do you honestly believe they have the committment to do this in the month and a-half of February-March 2010????????? Please do not insult my intelligence.

Maybe this was always their reason,It shouldn't be surprising that legislation wouldn't be pursued unless it is believed that it can pass.It is now pretty much standard to see administration or legislators to say *insert reason here* followed by *a new timeline* for pretty much any legislation.

Any effort they should have started would have been before the August recess of the 1st Congressional cycle,or lawmakers will charismatically try to delay any action.

Where are all the people that have accused us/me of being skeptical and harsh when it comes to President Obama's commitment to our cause. I'm not giving up but I have said in the past that he's been slowly backing off his commitment to immigration reform. Last time an issue like this came up I asked why he has refused to pursue passing the DREAM ACT since he said himself it shouldn't have to wait for major overhaul to be considered. HE said it was important, HE said it should be passed immediately.....
I'm sure someone from the white house will try to re-arrange these latest comments to calm any potential backlash from all immigrant communities. Will the REAL President Obama stand up please....JEEEZ! I'm done!

I get really frustrated when I come on here to at least relate to other people and maybe have some hope. But instead I just read more and more negativity and people insulting each other.

Yeah it sucks. Yeah people say ignorant things. Yeah it's been a long time waiting. But honestly, what other administration would even consider of passing it?

You have to remember that most of the population right now isn't worrying about immigration reform, they're worried about how they're gonna pay their bills. And believe it or not healthcare has to do with it. And I know, immigration should too, but I think it's silly of us to expect that right now, in our recession immigration will be the forefront issue.

If anything, people should recognize how hard it is being president. You guys make it sound like just because he's President he can wave a wand and fix stuff, the problem is all the bureaucracy hoops that have to be jumped through.

I still have hope about it but I'm also being realistic, that means if stuff doesn't work out, have a plan.

Please don't say that. Who says there aren't enough votes for Immigration Reform? I really feel like change is coming and this is one change which will go down in the history books. Why don't we all look at the positive side. Health Care reform is very very close to reaching its final destination. I'm sure many of you heard that today, the House of Representatives unveiled their version of the bill. The end of the health care reform debate will really pave the way for Congress to deal with other important legislation and I am dead sure that Immigration will be one of them. So, I just its not appropriate to jump to conclusions so quickly about the Obama Administration. Give it some more time...Some of us have waited for decades..what is a couple more months?
