Guys, let's remember who this person is and what he represents. He would have opposed any sort of immigration reform that includes a pathway to legalization, regardless of the circumstances.

This is on the front page of Yahoo, and the article's headline leaves far less to interpretation than one provided by Think Progress.

If this was actually a domestic and not a foreign terrorist cell, then neither their reasons nor beliefs will make any difference in the public's eye. In fact, using violence against any group of civilians within the United States is more than likely going to increase public support for the victims, and villainize the perpetrator.

Personally, I do not think this was done by a foreign-trained terrorist cell with Middle Eastern origins. Bombing a marathon, or the Olympics, or any other type of peaceful international event without Western overtones would be utterly insane. You simply do not attack innocent civilians, shoot up schools, or bomb peaceful international events to make any type of political statement. The Pentagon and the WTC Towers - and not the civilians people inside them - were the intended target, and frankly I doubt anyone could predict the towers would fall they way they did. We all know the final result: ~3000 Americans died on 9/11, but ~300,000 Afghan and Iraqi combatants and civilians died over the course of the two subsequent wars.
