Hello Dreamers,

I came upon an aricle on the Metro Times titled "DREAM's Hope" and it basically talked about the things that most of us know about the DREAM Act.

What cought my attention was a quote said by Bob Dane, spokesman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform. "It creates a massive administrative burden on our federal bureaucracy that's already maxed out," he says. "There is a component of the DREAM Act that requires if somebody is eligible, they have to have been here since they were 16. How are you going to prove that?"

He then goes on to remnid people that the 9/11 terrorist posed as students and this bill if it became a law it could lead to "massive document fraud."

Dreamers i ask this from you are we going to let people say things like this to play with our futures? This is what i meant when i talked about organizations wanting to control this issue and make it thier own. I say its time to plan Sit ins which was talked about during the May 1st rally because if we don't then people will keep bombing the DREAM Act, playing with our futures and making our cause lesser than others. Please share this with your peers and lets be more organized i am willing to work with anybody to see this bill passed.

We should remind them that FAIR, NumbersUSA, and the Center for Immigration Studies were all founded by John Tanton, a white-supremacist who advocates "eugenics" or selective breeding and who took money from neo-nazi organizations to fund his lobbying operations.

Any newspaper/news organization that considers these zealots "experts" on immigration, clearly has no business in the media.

Here is the link of the article.

Well, it had good points, the dreamer had the first and last word, which is very powerful. Pretty much he gave the first and the last impression.

Also, he you are around, you did great, thanks for the job.

What the article indicates, is that the extreme views of the opposition are seen as reputable. At least to a small online newspaper. Still, if the journalist wanted to give a balance story with pros and cons for the reader to decide, please pm me the name of a anti-dreamer that actually has a good point. They all suck. So, she is stuck in that sense.

Still, it is the job of the activists to make the opposition look bad. The same way they work hard to makes us look bad too. That is why many people think NCLR is an extreme group even though its former director is working on the Obama administration.

What I am going to do is to thank the journalist for her article and point her out as to why the opposition has no legs. Using terrorism and economic strains is not an argument but an appeal to fear. It will cause the very strains that they are trying to prevent. What we don't want is for this journalist to go from an of the fence to a hater because we are mishandling the situation.

If DA is passed, I guess it only benefits the students and the graduated young adults, am I correct? Then I guess we have to send our diploma? Our transcripts? Something that will prove our education? Our tax statement? (or from our parents?) Anything that will prove us before 16? I don't really know.

For me I don't have to worry because I came with a B2 visa but I chose stayed in USA. But for other people who came here without going through an entrance (for example, crossing the border), there are still ways to deal with this problem. The simplest way is the first school registration record, or something similar?

secondly, the fraud part. I remembered on the news, I don't remember whether it's CIR or DA, the limit is, let say, before 2005/12/31, then someone can just make a fake document to show before 2005/12/31.
Fraud is surely going to happen for both CIR and DA. But why would he ever link terrorists with us? This FAIR organization is really anti-immigration reform as I read it last night. He is right about worrying the fraud part, BUT, but making such a statement about terrorists? He's shifting the problem towards us. Just like how they had said in the past: fix the driver license policy, the terrorists used driver license in 911.

The fraud part isn't our fault either. How many American citizens are tax dodgers? Even the nominees have been caught defraud on the revenue. So for the fraud part, please don't even worry.

We wait and see how it goes with the DA. Surely there will be a FAQ hotline set up !!!!

I am not sure if they can view it. I thought these database are different from state to state. Is there a central database they can actually look into?

dude, r u kidding me right now??... the way DHS works is that you send them your Diploma and transcript, if they feel like they need to confirm that; they will.

they can find out everything if they want to enter your name in the system. I can find out what school you went to and your residence there; not to mention someone with authority.

its a FEDERAL authority, it doesn't matter if its state to state.

I can not believe it but for once i think Pygmalion wrote a good post.

Few things to note though, Because other people might use fraud documents, that does not make it alright to do. No fraud document should be used.

Also as some people might use fraud documents, and using that against us is just plain ignorant.

Yes, out of millions, there might few bad apples ( less than probably .01 percent or even less) that might do that but most of us will not and wont.

We have all we need to prove, ( School records, college records, ...).

Also it is to check these. Just confirm it with school. The schools have the data.

Also one more thing, people who are caught using fraudulent documents, are deported on spot. So there is a good deterrent at place against people who want to trick the system. their fraudulent documents will not work at this age of technology. We are not talking about 70s or 80s. This is the age of computers and internet after all.

I want to thank Optimist for posting the link to the article and to all the people who read this posting. We dont need to be white house insiders to know that people will lobby and they will lobby hard against the DREAM Act.

If we focus on what these organizations tell us is the right thing we will be divided much like we were here in LA in the May1st rally where every organization had its mini rally and we all met at Olivera street.

I've said this too many times and i will remind all the Dreamers again we ave to pressure the govt to listen to U.S. If we wait for them time will pass by and when it becomes law it will be late for most or some.

We have examples all around us MLK, Harvey Milk, Rosa Parks and believe it or not Piolin Sotelo which along with Oscar de la Hoya, Jorge Ramos and George Lopez have formed a coaliton to promote Immigration Reform. Lets use them as examples and get the weels turning because the way things are right now the car doesn't even have any yet.
