Not too long ago The Hill posted this gorgeous blog post by Rep. Smith about the Dream Act

Dream Act is a Nightmare

If you read it, youll notice how Rep. Smith did an excellent job at spreading falsehood and lies about the Dream Act right after Sen Durbin posted his remarks about the legislation.

Please read, and spread.

some points on this:
A- sadly, there is an age limit of 35. So Rep. Smith's point is not correct. Not all can apply. B- Would not have an issue if more stringent requirements are set to prove time in the country and age of entry. They want to see First Communion photos or middle school report cards/records? Not a problem. And i highly doubt many who came when they were 30 can prove they were 15 when they got here. We can work on that. C- the hardship clause is more to those that will be taking care of a sick parent and child and batter through cancer themselves. It will be for those that will be in an accident and be stuck to a bed and not be able to join the military or really go to school. In other words, very few cases. if opponents want to work on this, great. Maybe we can have an extension or something.
As for the other points. They are indeed correct. Just differences of opinion or liking of the outcomes. That is all.

juan/s.aran. where are on earth are you guys getting that he said that rep smith is saying "mandates" when he actually says "allows"?

"First, the DREAM Act allows public universities to grant illegal immigrants in-state tuition rates."

is what he says. did a search of the entire document and the only "mandates" was from DREAM people. and he will use this to attack us and undercut our case. next time please do it right. too much is at stake.

Hes wrong, we are right.

The law does not MANDATE or REQUIRE anything. Read S.729. Institutions of public education shall decide if they want to or not allow in state tuition. If Universities want to gran-instate tuition, take up w the legislature of that state.

As per the age its a must on this bill. Period. Not having it, its gonna flame more arguments like Rep. Smith.

Rep. Smith is FAIL in more senses than one.

I was watching CNN yesterday ,and the opposing side didn't even know what he was talking about. He was so against it because he thought that it automatically gave citizenship. Heck, the lady on our side had it all wrong because she then said "permanent residency would be fine then if that would get you guys to commit to it." As we all know, there is that 6 year conditional residency thing.

They were talking about the dream act because of Jessica from Georgia. The opposing side believes that there is a line for us to get in and they just have it wrong. What fucking line ? Show me the fucking line ? We can leave but there is that 10 year ban

He was just so ignorant saying that she knew what she was doing at 11 years old. Fucking dumbass

Wow, really the people on our side don't even know how this would work? Are you serious? They should have one of us talking about it on tv, someone that knows what they are talking about and that can counter stupid arguments with facts. He actually said that she knew what she was doing at 11 years old??? Is he fuc*ing serious?????? What the fuc*?????? That guy is so old he as already forgotten that kids, in conservative families, have really no say when it comes down to big family decisions. What a fuc*ing jacka*s.

Never mind, I just watched it and this guy is so wrong. I think he actually shot himself in the foot when he mentioned the permanent residence. That would probably be way better than conditional residency. I would be ok with that. I'll take back what I said about the woman, she knew exactly what she was talking about. We need more people like her out there.

I thought House has no maximum age limit but senate has the 35 limit. You can show the HS Diploma. Middle school records should not be a problem also. For those who are on overstay can show the I-94 stamp.
