"The urge for immigration reform can not be overstated 'cause it is so overdue. The time for excuses is now over. The time to get to work is now," says Sen. Charles Schumer.

http://www.fox11az.com/news/local/Se...100630154.html

Under questioning by reporters, Napolitano said the bill represents a step toward comprehensive immigration reform.

"The efforts on overall immigration reform are ongoing," Napolitano said. "But the point I'm making is that you need to multitask. You need to secure the border and have a safe and secure border area, and you need immigration reform.

"That's what this president has set out to do. That's what he has asked the Department of Homeland Security to work on. That's why he has invited Republicans and Republican leadership to the table to say, look, let's get to the issue of immigration reform."

In response to questions as to how feasible comprehensive reform might be in an election year, White House Press Secretary Robert Gibbs said, “We’ll get reform when Democrats and Republicans are willing to go back and be leaders.”

timetable?

Napolitano declines to say what the administration’s timetable is for addressing immigration. “This is in the hands of the Congress, and they will need to address this in a bipartisan way,” she says. “The timetable question should be addressed to them.”

He said yesterday or a couple days before, he's just calling out the Republicans that said they will only vote for comprehensive immigration reform if they secure the borders first but as McCain said "There's still more to be done". Republicans want a damn china wall built or what? ha ha hopefully some will jump in for CIR or DREAM.

I'm tired of these dam republicans say that they need to secure the border. They been saying that since 06 there gonna keep saying that so nothing gets done. Cir is dead as far as I'm cocerned they really need to focus on the dream that is more crucial to people like us who are worth so much. Republicans stuburn about immigration so I hate the fact that when they go down to Mexico they have homes and stuff. There should be tough immigration laws down there too. So they can feel how some of us feel up here. Using us a scape goats . For their problems always blaming innocent people like immigrants. HISTORY REPeATS ITSELF. Like senator Graham from the south who is calling babys anchor babys who come from undocumented parents what a radical idiot and he is from the south also where historically racism was born in this country. I wish they would all burn in hell..! Those dam spicks.....!

PR for the elections - Yet they fool no one. I hear more and more Hispanics who plan to vote for progessive choices, not actual mainstream Democrats. The progessive choice won't win, but neither will the Dem. Tough shit. Because that's really what they have given us..."We know that DREMA and AgJobs can pass, but we don't feel we really have 60 votes (a lie as the only way to know is to vote on it). You've lived all your life in this country and are now in deportation proceedings? Tough shit. You shouldn't have gotten caught."

And basically this is what these apparently brilliant, Harvard-educated elites think is the best immigration strategy: Don't get caught. We won't let you earn the right to stay or consider your moral claim to ties in this country because it's too hard to put a short, concise, targeted legislation like DREAM into law. It's too hard apparently even though it's already written and introduced and filed. No. They want easy programs like, I don't know, indefinite TPS for certain people (and I believe this excludes them from paying taxes, but I'm not sure) and eternal right-to-enter and go-on-welfare programs for Cubans. If you are a student or young worker and have done everything possible short of turning yourself into a pretzel to be a responsible member of this society, tough shit. In this administration and Congress, any talk of immigration reform = more "enforcement", ; but this is selective because they could go on a country-wide spree and raid every farm field, hotel, restaurant and finds loads of "illegals" with really not very much effort or expense. And then the bonus is they get to fine the employers and have a windfall of revenue, so of course this is the way to go, right? (buzzer goes off) WRONG! The businesses will lobby against their re-election, so let's exploit the vulnerable a little more, but this time let's pretend that we are doing them a favor by not pulling them in masses on buses, just send NTAs to everyone caught and let the goverment lawyers fight the case to death so they can achieve a "win" rather than justice. Yep, I think that sums it up.
