Meeting will last 30 mins, I suggest you call ALL DAY!

Event is also on the DAP calendar.

Quote:
After months of emails, calls, and legislative visits, immigrant youth from Florida have finally been granted a meeting with Florida Senator George LeMieux. LeMieux t is the replacement of Senator Mel Martinez, a DREAM Act co-sponsor who retired before the end of his term and who is now responsible of holding back a vote on favor of the DREAM Act.

Senator LeMieux has repeatedly failed to take a clear stand on the DREAM Act, citing that it does not adress the big picture and that this is not the right fix for our broken immigration system. THIS THURSDAY, September 9th, pro-migrant advocates will be having a sit down meeting with the senator himself to reiterate the support for the DREAM Act that exists across the state of Florida, and making sure that Senator LeMieux understands that the DREAM Act is the first step in fixing our broken immigration system!

Please call Senator LeMieux's office and tell him to support the DREAM Act:

Tel: (904) 398-8586
Fax: (904) 398-8591

Call In Script:
"Hi, my name is _________ and I am calling to express my support for bill S.729 the "DREAM Act". Senator Mel Martinez once understood the importance of this bill for our state and country, and we urge Senator LeMieux to support the Dream Act and stand with immigrant youth. Several organizations and universities across Florida support the Dream Act, and while enforcement only legislation is passed it is time to start to fix our broken immigration system by passing the DREAM Act! Thank you."

Universities that Support the Dream Act in Florida:

-University of Florida
-Florida State University
-University of Central Florida
-Broward College
-Miami Dade College

It's really getting down to the wire. I am crossing my fingers that this promising law passes this year. I have also been informing friends about the dream act who did not know about it and I have been getting them involved.
