Billionaire media mogul Rupert Murdoch sparred with congressional Democrats on Thursday over why his support for a broad immigration overhaul – with a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants – is at odds with the anti-immigrant rhetoric often espoused on his Fox News network.

At a hearing on Capitol Hill, Rep. Maxine Waters (D-Calif.) asked News Corp.’s chairman and CEO to explain the “contradiction” and why he didn’t do more to promote his views through his various news outlets, including The Wall Street Journal, the nation’s largest newspaper.

“We are not anti-immigrant on Fox News,” Murdoch replied, adding that his views are reflected in The Journal “every day.”

“Not really,” Waters said. “Not really.”

Pressed by Waters again, Murdoch said: “I have no problem in supporting what I’m saying today on Fox News, nor would the great number of commentators on Fox News.”

SO FOX NEWS IS ON OUR SIDE?!?! HAHAH WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK?

Well, not only is he lying but he's also delusional. Commentators at FOX are supportive of CIR? Ha.

Why is Immigration becoming an issue this late in the session, oh that's right, a little thing called elections, lets remember the number goal of any politician is to retain their seat; as long as we get DA its cool with me.

Excerpt from the book I'm currently reading..

People selling fear of you having to live without their products. Fear of aging, fear of loneliness, fear of poverty, fear of failure, ... fear of incontinence, spotting, smelling, falling...the fear that you're not as good looking as you want, fear that you can't get it up anymore and fear of what happens when you do and you catch something. Fear is the most basic emotion we have. Back when we still lived in trees, fear is what kept our ancestors alive. Fear is primal. Fear sells... fear sells.

I think he genuinely tells the truth and when there was an effort to pass CIR in 2007, Fox was so clamped down in its reaction that conservatives got pissed off at it.

The problem isn't that Murdoch doesn't push for CIR enough; it's that the backlash by the nativists is so strong that even Fox cannot veer that far off from conservative orthodoxy.
