As of 2 pm, 5/26, 51% of those polled support green cards for dreamers and 46% didn't support. Nice to see the numbers shifting in favor of green cards -- keep voting, maybe the Daily News will be encouraged to increase progressive coverage of this issue.

Also, if you haven't already, pls sign this petition to stop Secure Communities in NY: http://chn.ge/TellCuomoNo

Big freakin deal...the people are easily manipulated and swayed by the politicians. This means absolutely nothing in terms of getting a concrete bill introduced and passed in both senate and house.

Hmmmm, well it's true that a simple Daily News poll will likely itself not spur legislative action in NY. Nevertheless, it may increase progressive media coverage, which is just one of the many building blocks to change.

Interesting to think that politicians control their constituents, and not the other way around. Maybe to some extend this is true. Still, many politicians are at their core simultaneously scared rabbits and power hungry. There's nothing like front page news to influence the amorphous politician.

Jesus christ, look at the stupidity of this comment:

"I am against this Dream Act as a Taxpaying American because my daughter is not going to college for free. It's not fair. American college students will all most likely finish college owing thousands in student loans. I don't want this for my children and can not except illegals going to school here for free.

This is not a scientific poll people, it's only natural that this article would attract fervent opponents.

I tried making an account just to show that idiot some facts, but it bugged on me so I gave up. It's idiots like him that make the DA look like a bad thing, even though no where in the DA bill it mentions about anyone getting any FREE money for college. Idiots are idiots I guess.

What about all the Italian Americans? And the Irish Americans, have they forgotten the hostilities their people faced in the past? so much for welcoming... You would think more people in New York would agree to support welcoming immigrants. 49%...

Right. The same reason African-Americans were brought here as Slaves.

So DA is a civil right.
