Yesterday, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, the Democrat from Illinois, was arrested at 4:40 pm (EST) for protesting in front of the White House with others against the deportation of undocumented immigrants.

Gutierrez, has long been a proponent of immigration reform that includes amnesty and passage of the DREAM Act.

I am not racist or anything liek that but i really don't understand .. Obama or other congressmen don't understand spanish. So what is the point of protesting in spanish to the white house?

Also, this will give rest of the dreamers a bad image on the news report or media. Protesting with spanish and flagging a mexican flag makes people to assume that most of the dreamers don't even speak english and don't deserve a US citizenship

I think this is a major logistical problem in our movement.

Our message gets muddled by things like this.

Totally agree with star293 and sabzon. We are trying to convey the American people that we have adapted to their society and can function like any one of them. We're not just simply trying to get legalized to start a revolution, so why protest in Spanish?
