This isn't exactly big official news, but I thought some people may find it as interesting as I did. It's just some changes to the nysenate pages on the New York Dream Act.

Senate page

Assembly page

Update (August 2011)-
We now have 16 Sponsors in Senate/ 30 Sponsors from the Assembly.
Still far from our goal, but action won't take place until the next legislative session.
Plenty of time to convince the remaining officials.

There are currently 105 Dem. out of 150 in the Assembly/ 32 Dem. out of 60 in the Senate. (Possibility of a majority vote with no challenge from Cuomo).

Although it may take some time for further action, conditions are ideal assuming we have full Dem. support, which is difficult in current economical conditions.

Other outlooks: Work Authorization appears to be the only challenge. Since New York has already established EDLs, regular DLs don't cross the Real ID Compliance in 2012-2013.

I'm not exactly saying to get your hopes up. Just informing of any changes.

This bill will not be decided on until 2012 since this year's session is done.

I sincerely hate being pessimistic, but the conditions of this bill (Workers' authorization and drivers' license) crosses over or will cross over federal laws. (ie: complying with Real ID deadline in '13)

The state legislators supporting these bills have courage, an attribute that is needed for state legislators in California.
