I know the issue of putting down the two last names on the forms has been discussed but I am wondering how the EAD card will come in. As most Hispanics, I have two last names showing on my passport. I only use my paternal one though.

Is our EAD card going to show our two last names? I only ask because in my state, the ID/DL will show what appears on official documents. Is there any way around this (name change) or are we stuck with it?

Whatever you put in Section 1 as your official name is the name that they will use.

I'm not hispanic, but I do have two last names. I only put in the one that I use the most as my official name. ONLY in "Other Names" did I include my whole full name.

I used this board and talked it over with my lawyer to arrive at this decision. They generally go by the official name that you put on your docs as long as it can be verified through IDs (which mine can be).

I did it the opposite as you. Is there anyway to change the name after the card has been received or is being processed?

I wrote about this on the other thread... My mother's lawyer used both of my moms last names when she filed for her green card. Under other names used, she put her name with only one last name. I think that the name you use for question one is the one that they will use as your legal name.

She went to the social security office and had her name changed. Her name was fine on her drivers license. I think her concern was that when she applied for credit cards, her credit history wasnt being matched.

When she applied for citizenship, they asked if she wanted to chenge her name, and she wrote the one she wanted on the application. That was not a problem either. So, now, her immigration paperwork, her social, and her drivers license all have the same name.

My point: its paperwork, but its not a real hassle. No one made it really complicated to change her name.

Alright. Thanks. I figured it could be done. I guess at this point I'll worry about receiving the EAD then work on changing the name.

Edit: Do you think I can ask during my Biometric appt about changing the name? I heard you change do it during your GC interview...
