Alternative to Dream Act-ACHIEVE ACT (proposed my a Republican!)

ACHIEVE Act-Alternative to DREAM act....proposed by a REPUBLICAN (Say what?)


"The bill being floated would apply to undocumented immigrants who came to the United States before the age of 14 as long as they are under the age of 28, if they have no college degree. If they are college-educated, the age limit is 32, according to the Daily Caller. The Dream Act, by contrast, would allow immigrants to apply so long as they came before the age of 16 and are currently under the age of 30.

Both plans require an immigrant to show good moral character, maintain a felony-free criminal record, and live in the U.S. for five consecutive years before the bill's enactment -- assuring foreign nationals will not enter the country now simply to apply."

They're gonna try to pass it by the end of this year!!! Looks like Santa may have brought some EXTRA presents this year!

I wouldn't settle for that, I want people 14-16 to be eligible too.

Ditto.. It's like the cheap version of the DREAM Act. We will be here on a VISA. This is ridiculous! They even want us join the military, but not be a citizen?! Not even a Green Card Holder?! How's that for oxymoron?!

Yeah that attempt to get on our good side is pathetic. Not only are they trying to get credit changing the name(even though a republican came up with the DREAM act), they think we would settle for any bone they throw at us. I'm not picky about what we get at all, but just thinking of the feeling someone 14-16 would get if this passed instead of the dream act is very depressing. Sadly, its a good strategy because everyone under 14 would apply. Leaving out a smaller group to fight for the dream act.

I shudder to think that an American today actually crafted this bill. It is obviously a step that creates a society with legal second-class populace. It's not that different from the Roman Empire, where they had citizens, semi citizens, and slaves. Disgusting.

Just take a look at their definition of their proposed W-3, and you'll get my point.

Its ironic that some of us would support this if we would qualify while impending others from getting any sort of benefits. That one poll was scary

It's survival instinct. You want to get out of the hole you're in, and if you see a way out, you want it even if there's only room for one, I can understand that feeling.

Although now that we have daca, things have changed. I personally don't feel like i willfall for just any act they thow at us anymore. I'm perfectly fine renewing the rk permit every two yers. Maybe they should add a path from daca, to citizenship. But more importantly, I want to wesee some sort of immigration reform. I want to see our families get recognized.
