The White House sent this email a few minutes ago regarding immigration.

Quote:
Get the Facts: Immigration

America’s immigration system is broken. Too many employers game the system by hiring undocumented workers and there are 11 million people living in the shadows.

Neither is good for the economy or the country.

President Obama is committed to fixing the system and making sure that everyone plays by the same set of rules.

We just launched a new page on WhiteHouse.gov that lays out the President's common sense proposal all in one place.

Will you check it out?

Holy crap. For the last few days, I've been getting rapid e-mails from the DNC and Organizing for America (democratic groups) about getting Immigration reform done.

This is crazy how aggressive Obama and his organizers have been moving. They really want to get this done.

"We cannot allow immigration reform to get bogged down in an endless debate. So to help move this process along, the President laid out his ideas for immigration reform. But if Congress is unable to move forward in a timely fashion, the President will send up a bill based on his proposal and ask them to vote on it right away."

so no matter what happens, we'll get something done this year. According to that.

A big questions is what is going to happen with those that have a pending petition already and are just waiting on their priority date.

I think it will continue to stay that way for those that have it pending. Maybe, they will have new laws on this and a better system. I have read about petitions taking years and years to get there. Hopefully, the time to wait will be reduced.

Assuming some sort of plan follows through, the website says "get in the back of line" so I would assume, nothing would change since you were in line first
