I'm seeing lots of people from new york too. We can certainly arrange a meeting just like people in CA? I'm going to try to contact one of the city council and ask for help and with his help, we may be able to make a rally or some sort in the city or in one of the five boroughs.

We need to speak up and to do that, america has to see who we are and that we exist!

And What An Attention We Will Draw Here In New York City !!!

ehh, I'm in New York but I'm not a rally type of a person. You have to understand that our impact here will be negligible because honestly who even gives a shit what the city council thinks. Even raising awareness won't work because exactly 0 of the people we'd talk to will actually call DC.

I only see a downside because if we gather a lot of people that we don't know some of them are bound be total idiots and will assault somebody and I can already see it going to hell. Just like with all the other immigration protests or in fact any gathering of people in New York.

The ONLY people that can do anything are the Senators so I wouldn't even waste time on anyone else. The DoD bill is close, keep calling. If, God forbid, it doesn't pass in September then we'll talk about other types of action.

Agree we need to talk to the senators! instead of trying to do rallies, Plus We don't have enough time to do that now! This is September The senators return on Tuesday to Decide on our life, We just have to keep on calling and keep the pressure on the senators! Focus on calling guys, For all I know there's a phone line war coming up between us and Alipac.

I think rallies and lobbying can be done together. Here in NY we are actively organizing in the NYSYLC and need people who can participate in legislative visits or who can participate in rallies. They are both effective tools for getting our agenda across but they must be strategic.

Please contact us so that we can work together!

Not true maybe we shouldnt get the attention of the city council maybe we should get on the bigger news like fast give up phones internet and food? Perhaps on a weekend since schools started. maybe we can meet up in front of some senators office, media office, rockafeller center n spend the night there fast im sure they'll film us when they do the morning news at thier tv station over there. Not only do we have to show america that we exist but senators from other states they're thinking "its not that bad yea californias acting up because there are alot of dream seekers there but new york havent even done anything yet so maybe it isint that bad" Anyway maybe we should go for the bigger media and not city council.

And about someone assualting someone we're all on the same boat and theat 'idiot' must have some knowledge and deceny to know what they're showing up for. We're all standing for the same thing we need UNITY. Besides all that danger stuff seems like wat moms would say. Hey if it means for me to get assualted to get media attention or if it would trade for passing of the dream act id volunteer. We cant be selfish anymore there are generations depending on this to paas.

We cant just only call now if we give this attempt and it god forbid still didnt pass we have no one to blame but if we dont take MORE action and get off our but n that cell phone and do something n (god forbid) that bill dosent pass we only have ourselfs to blame.

^If people want to do something they should, I"m just stating my opinion of the issue.

1) Not enough time - Vote could come as early as next Monday, that is nowhere enough time to plan anything. Anti-war rallies take MONTHS to organize so unless you're going to find many people who are going to abandon their lives and go fast tomorrow I don't see how it could work.

2) New York Senators - both our Senators support DREAM so what point is there to protest in front of their offices? It's not like protesting in front of Vitter's office is it?

3) Security - I meant someone from OUR group could assault a passerby and effectively ruin the legislation forever. I'm 100% sure that we'd get some guy in a Chavez T-shirt yelling profanities at people.

4) Public opinion - What have we learned from the immigration protests? That they piss people off. That upside down flag incident probably set us back months, as did the fact that every other flag was a Mexican one. To many Americans the protest basically said "I'm violating your laws but fuck you because I'm walking down the Brooklyn Bridge". Don't kid yourself, any sort of connection between Dreamers and the average illegal immigrant will do nothing but ruin us. The whole premise of this legislation is to show how radically different our groups is and that is our only hope. That's why our champion is Juan and not Elvira. If you want to show unity then just stop advocating DREAM and start advocating the CIR (which will probably never happen).

That's what I think, I very well might be wrong but I've been calling, faxing, writing for months and I believe that has had a bigger effect than any hunger strike in front of Clinton's office.

I don't live in NY so my opinion does not matter but I agree with you. Well, done and planned rallies can work effectively but J6 is right in that you need at least a month to plan it carefully. Let's not fool ourselves, no matter how nice, educated and american we are, there is going to be a share of the conservative and liberal groups that are going to demonize us and a good percentage that believe it is true that we are demons. We are in a conflict. We want something and they do not want to give it to us. they might say they want to give it to us but it is a lie. they would give it to us if it cost them nothing to do the exchange. As a result, they rather give us nothing. There is not smooth or easy or bland way to do this. Only a collusion because we are at war. Everthing we say they can manipulate until it serves their own agenda. We have to be ready for that too.

just wondering, is there a reason that you only post once every few days to tell people that they have PM's and always say something to the effect of "sorry for the interruption"?

are you still in the military?

01. Re: Sorry for interruption – it’s your site I’m just a guest here trying to say Hi to some friends at DAP “once every few days”.
02. Re: Are you still in the military? - No, never was, and never will be. Captain can be Airliner captain, or Cruse ship, or Container ship, or Car carrier, or Bulk carrier, or General cargo ship carrier, or Tanker ship captain.

Captain – Military – typical misconception and incompetence only in US.
