Hello, I applied for AP this July 6th and I'm still waiting. I'm trying to be optimistic about the process. Is there any way to speed up the process? Also when I filled the application I put in the "Date of Intended Departure" August 4th and the "Expected length of the trip "81 days". Did I make any mistakes by putting this date?

Thanks for all the help and suggestions.

Depends on several things such as the processing center. Besides, normal processing times for AP is 3 months. You've waited less than 3 weeks.

I sent my application out June 13, received June 16, Documents sent July 5, and I received them around july 11.

I requested that it be expedited. I explained why I sent it with such short notice and why I have to be back by Aug 23. I work for a school district so I sent a copy of my email for the new school year assignment.

My sister did not request to be expedited and as of last week it was still in review. She called Friday to explain that my grandma'S health has not improved and she really needs to see us. She was told that it would be reviewed and that she would have an answer by the end of this week.

Just wait it out. If they denied the expedite, call your congressman office to have them request it. It has worked for me in the past.

They received my case June 20th, I put expedite on it, my dad is sick and haven't seen him in 15 years, still waiting for an answer, the sucky part for me is that I put leave date July 16th and 14 days duration...which pretty much it looks like the dates I asked will passed and I still wont have the approval so I'm praying, crossing my fingers that when they approve it they will not put those dates, I called USCIS and they told me they couldn't tell me if they would put those days that it was the officer's discretion to hopefully not put days that have already passed. I'm still hoping they touch their heart and use common sense.

Mine was received on June 20th and it's still being reviewed. Based on the experience other people have had I shouldn't expect a reply till mid August. The wait is awful but fortunately i put the date I wanted to travel in September.

Good luck with your process.

My sister got this email yesterday:
The status of this service request is:

Although we are sensitive to your current situation, we regret to inform you that we cannot grant your request for expedited processing of your Form (I-131).

You have not provided sufficient detail regarding an extreme emergent need, which must meet one of the following criteria:

*Severe financial loss to company or individual;
*Extreme emergent situation;
*Humanitarian situation;
*Nonprofit status of requesting organization in furtherance of the cultural and social interests of the U.S.;

She called again and was told to wait five days to send another request. So it looks like I'm traveling alone.
