Hi guys, I mentioned a few threads ago that I needed volunteers for my article. Well, I found them/ they found me and here's the final product. I hope you guys enjoy DACA Day. Please click through to read the full story.

One Year Out Of The Shadows: How Legal Status Changed The Lives Of Seven Immigrants

August 15 marks the one-year anniversary of the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program, a presidential initiative that grants temporary legal status to non-criminal undocumented immigrants who were brought into the country as youths by their parents. The two-year program allows DACA recipients to apply for a social security number, to legally work in the United States, and to pay taxes. It also protects them from deportation. The program has attracted more than half a million applicants. As of July, 400,562 undocumented youths have been approved.

Before DACA, these individuals were largely excluded from pursuing permanent, professional employment in the United States. But since receiving their employment authorization cards, many recipients are able to match their skills and qualifications with careers that they never could have had without legal status. They are able to travel more freely, with driver’s licenses, ID cards, and other fundamental privileges previously denied. And they have increasingly become contributing members of society. These are the stories of seven DACA recipients who are already changing their lives, even as they live with the fear that the change may be temporary.

Oh wow, so inspirational. This is much better than that sneering USA Today article.

Hate to be picky, but remember that DACA gives legal presence, not status.

Good article otherwise.

This is a really good article. It's nice that you were able to find someone that was not Hispanic.

P.S. Just reading that guy's comment makes me angry. We should spam his FB or something
