Trump wants to deport 2 to 3 million undocumented immigrants with criminal records

President-elect Donald Trump says he plans to deport two to three million undocumented immigrants who have criminal records immediately after his inauguration.

The interview with “60 Minutes” is scheduled to air Sunday.

“If you listen to the brief section he had from ’60 Minutes,’ there are going to be substantial deportations. They’re called criminals,” Newt Gingrich, Former House Speaker, told CNN. “I mean, two million people would be a lot of people to deport and, if at the the same time, you gain control of the border, and if you passed a guest worker program, you’d be a long way towards then, three, or four, or five years from now, dealing with the rest of the folks who are here without legal permission, and I think by that stage, we would accommodate in some way.”

However, House Speaker Paul Ryan said Sunday despite Donald Trump’s campaign rhetoric, lawmakers are not prepared to form a deportation force to round-up and deport undocumented immigrants.

“We are not planning on erecting a deportation force. Donald Trump’s not planning on that,” Ryan told CNN’s Jake Tapper on “State of the Union.”

“I think we should put people’s minds at ease: That is not what our focus is. That is not what we’re focused on. We’re focused on securing the border. We think that’s first and foremost, before we get into any other immigration issue, we’ve got to know who’s coming and going into the country — we’ve got to secure the border,” he added.

Trump told CBS’ Lesley Stahl in a “60 Minutes” interview set to air Sunday night that he st still plans to build a US-Mexico border wall.

And asked if he’d accept a fence instead of a wall, Trump said: “For certain areas I would, but certain areas, a wall is more appropriate. I’m very good at this, it’s called construction.” Trump added that “there could be some fencing.”

He did not, though, repeat his campaign promise to deport all undocumented immigrants.

He pledged to focus first on deporting those who have committed crimes within the United States — “gang members, drug dealers … probably two million, it could even be three million” — and worry about others later.

“After the border is secure and after everything gets normalized, we’re going to make a determination on the people that they’re talking about who are terrific people,” Trump said.

Ryan deflected questions about whether he’d support Trump’s calls to slap hefty tariffs on imports from countries like Mexico.

Instead, Ryan said, he supports tax reforms to address the same challenges “without any adverse effects — without any collateral damage to the economy.”

The House speaker also said he is on board with Trump’s call to keep some elements of President Barack Obama’s signature health care law.

But he won’t commit to mandating insurance coverage of birth control for women at no cost.

“Obamacare is failing. It must be replaced. We’re going to do that. We’re excited about it … We can fix what is broken in health care without breaking what is working in health care,” Ryan said.

The Wisconsin Republican said he agrees with Trump’s comment to CBS’ “60 Minutes” that Obamacare’s laws against barring those with pre-existing conditions from receiving coverage and allowing those up to age 26 to remain on their parents’ insurance can stay in place even as the GOP pushes to repeal Obamacare.
Ryan said the GOP plans to push refundable tax credits that would allow low-income Americans to essentially use those tax credits as vouchers to buy insurance, rather than receiving government-funded Medicaid.

He demurred when Tapper asked whether insurers would be required to cover birth control at no cost to women — a primary feature of Obamacare — by saying he wasn’t going to discuss “nitty gritty” details.

Pressed by Tapper, Ryan said: “I’m not going to get into hypotheticals about legislation that hasn’t even been drafted yet.”
Trump will deport the criminals. About 3 million people, where he get that number idk. Can anybody find source on 3 million undocumented people? I feel that if we can find a source that says there 3 million undocumented people with criminal background we can assure what he means by criminal.

We are terrific people!

I think there will be people, dreamers, that will go against this because they believe in giving people a second change.

What do you think?

Firm believer in second chances here. But having a huge rap sheet, then Idk. As for the 3million, maybe he means that ANY criminal record has the potential to get you deported. There are DACA people with criminal records. Let's not lie about it. It's just USCIS has taken the "forgive/forget" mentality on certain crimes. Who knows how Trump may choose to interpret it.

Knowing you are in a country illegally you need to understand that you are already on your second chance. Obviously we view ourselves as just your average America who deserves all the American privelages like second chances, but a lot of people don't view us the same and do not understand. Especially since trump ran his immigration campaign around that person who was killed by an illegal who was let out of jail. After that show, there are no second chances for us I'm afraid.

Also, deporting criminals who got organized into gangs in US jails has literally torn the fabric of those countries which guess what.... has led to more illegal immigration as people flee the criminal gangs who are trying to kill them.

I don't think that falls under criminals. But we will wait and see.
