Trump administration announces end of immigration protection program for ‘dreamers’ - The Washington Post
https://apple.news/AaS_M_UxcRfmwmaKeg1HkDA

The Department of Homeland Security said it would no longer accept new applications for Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals, which has provided renewable, two-year work permits to nearly 800,000*dreamers.*The agency said those currently enrolled in DACA will be able to continue working until their permits expire; those whose permits expire by March 5, 2018, will be permitted to apply for two-year renewals as long as they do so by Oct. 5.
New applications and renewal requests already received by*DHS before Tuesday will be reviewed and validated on a case-by-case basis, even those for permits that expire after March 5, officials said.

Haha I'm glad it worked out! Those of us with a year out should be fine. I think this is ideal situation for us. If we don't get the Dream act, RACA, and etc..., the very least we will get is the Bridge Act. Bridge Act would be considered law and we won't have to worry about it ending on a wimp.

I expire in August 2018. Now I am wishing I had sent mine in. I was willing to gamble with the cost of renewal. I just did not want to create a backlog for people expiring later this year...

eh, I expire 3/31/19.... probably weren't going to process me if I had sent it in.... I'm sure those of you who expire in April or May 2018 may be more lucky.

Yeah same here. I think if everyone applied early it would of screwed those who really need it. I expire in Oct 2018. We will be fine being about a year out.

It is NOT about when you send in your renewal! From the way I read it, you can renew ONLY if you expire within next 6 months..I believe the date is March 5th. People who's EADs expire after can't renew. Only 24% of people's EADs expire within next 6 months.

Don't think that's true:

Will adjudicate—on an individual, case-by-case basis—properly filed pending DACA initial requests and associated applications for Employment Authorization Documents that have been accepted by the Department as of the date of this memorandum.
If it has already been accepted, i.e. started being processed, it's fine.

still on a case by case basis, so I doubt they are going to be approving a lot of renewals dated 3/6/18 onwards (not that they would be that many I would think, but will be interesting to see how far past 3/5/18 they will actually approve if any)
