I do not believe this has been posted here yet. I saw this on the DACA subReddit from a few days ago, and I thought I’d post. I believe he is a reporter for Axios. While we have gotten a lot of BS Twitter news, who knows anymore? They go on to say in the comments that it would be a legislative fix, when he refers to DACA reauthorized.

“Just spoke to a top Republican close to leadership about Trump’s decision. Here is what they said:
Victory. They win in the politics of DACA and leverage on debt in the winter. The fate is sealed – DACA will be reauthorized without strings, Shumer has inserted himself into all negotiations in the winter, including tax, spending, and immigration.”

I would also like to add, that we all knew that a DA stand alone bill would not pass, and also its only been a week since the 6 month time clock started. I am cautiously optimistic, but we’ve just now started the clock.
Personally I’m giving it until December, and if nothings moving then I’m off to my personal plan B.

Great news if true!! Best I've heard today. It would explain the lack of urgency we've seen lately. Fingers crossed.

It's old news, I don't know what to believe in anymore. I hope the y really have that kind of leverage.

Only the Dems will save us if they truly care to do so!

I hope they are committed to really attaching the DA to spending bills, and I hope Trump sees how ineffective Republicans are

Republicans under no circumstances want a govt shutdown, they also won't vote against the spending bills simply because DA is attached. If they do, they'll go on record voting against a very popular proposal. Dems better hold strong though and not relinquish a single vote until republicans cave in.

I feel like republicans see no point in compromise or trying to pass DA when they know democrats are ready to do this. This takes it off their hands and they can say "hey we had to pass those bills and democrats held us hostage"

They win by passing DA "begrudgingly", but in truth, they really want it to pass.

I'm starting to think this is the only strategy that will work. If the GOP won't allow a hearing on DACA then compromise bill is never going to happen.

Their not gonna compromise because Dems want a clean bill.

Why waste the time when they can focus on tax reform? They have to spend a large amount of time collecting votes, bribing everyone with benefits for their states and districts.

If the Dems are gonna attach it to must pass legislation, what's the point?
They'll just sit back and say they were forced to vote for it. It's a win win for both parties.

That’s what I’ve been thinking honestly. (but I’m fucking scared to say it because if it fails, then its election night all over again X 1,000,000.)
I personally believe that the Dems are waiting for December to attach us, and corner the Republicans. If pulled off this way, this could be their big catapult to getting back into the publics good graces in terms of the 2020 election, while still making Trump look good.
