"A former DACA recipient who was waiting to reapply for deportation protections, after his initial application was rejected due to postal service delays, is currently in the custody of Immigration and Customs Enforcement in Pennsylvania, Vox has exclusively learned."

A story like this COULD be a big momentum shift toward a DACA fix...

We should share this on social media and tag congressmen.
We need more attention/pressure to cases like these.

Sucks to be him. He shouldn't have held off on sending his renewal for so long, his DACA was set to expire in a month. Either way, this goes to show that the effects of DACA being cancelled are already being felt, we don't have until March.

It says he was convicted of a minor crime but was still able to apply for DACA. Does this mean he had a deportation order already or..?

Lots of friends dont have DACA and have been stopped by police multiple times and nothing happens to them.

I wonder why Enrique is so unlucky.

"On Monday morning — six days before his son’s first birthday — as Enriquez drove down Route 83 to his contracting job, he was pulled over by a Pennsylvania State Police officer. The officer told him his vehicle registration had expired. Enriquez’s fiancée says the family thought they had kept their registration current; since Pennsylvania doesn’t put registration-date stickers on license plates, Carranza speculates that the only way the trooper would have known Enriquez’s registration had lapsed would be if she’d run his license plates when he drove by.

Enriquez was ultimately issued a ticket not for the expired registration, but for his expired driver’s license. But in the meantime, Carranza says, the state police officer had called Immigration and Customs Enforcement to come pick up Enriquez. ICE agents took him to the York detention center and served him with a notice to appear in immigration court — formally starting deportation proceedings against him."

Expired registration, expired license, didn't send in his DACA renewal until he had one month left so mail is delayed and DACA renewal denied. Hard to feel sorry for the guy. You gotta stay on top of things.

I think the main point to take away from this is to expect many similar stories come March 6th if nothing passes.

In response to reports that Osman Enriquez, a former DACA recipient who was waiting to reapply, was detained by Immigration Customs Enforcement (ICE) Monday morning after a traffic stop by state police, Tom Jawetz, vice president of Immigration Policy at the Center for American Progress, issued the following statement:

Quote:
While the Trump administration and Republican leadership in Congress continue to lie about the fact that Congress has until March to provide a permanent protection for Dreamers, more than 12,000 DACA recipients already have lost protection. Today we learned that at least one of them—who lost protection not only because of government cruelty but also government ineptitude—has been detained and is being processed for deportation.

The time for rhetoric is over. Congress must pass the Dream Act before the end of the year, and Osman Enriquez must be released today so that he doesn’t spend another night apart from his wife and infant child.

Yep. Being proactive is the key to make good things to happen. I know it's easier said than done but one has to make time for the important things as procrastination is the enemy of success.

Yes we will, once people actually start expiring due to DACA being cancelled and not because of all of the things this guy did wrong. This could have been easily preventable.
