Sen. Mike Rounds (R- S.D.) voiced his opposition to short-term funding bill, known as a continuing resolution (CR) on Thursday as the threat of a government shut down looms over Congress.

"I agree with Angus, and that's the reason why I'm opposing the CR in its current form as well," Rounds told CNN's Chris Cuomo on "New Day," referencing Sen. Angus King's (I-Maine) comment that passing the CR is "no way to govern."

"For me, it's a matter of defense and it's a matter of trying to make sure in the future the message is let's get our work done on time," he continued.

GOP leadership needs to make a decision. Compromise with Dems or follow Trump off the cliff!

Angus is voting no as well.

@StevenTDennis Mike ROUNDS has had it. Says he'll vote against the Ryan/McConnell-CR. They don't even have 50 Senate Republicans for it now.

I told you guys; everyone is getting tired of the damn CR's. Repubs don't want it, Dem's don't want it, and that means a deal has to be reached. Or.... the Republican controlled gov't will be shut down.

Republican leadership, get to work and do what you're supposed to do - compromise and lead you incompetent selfish pricks.

Trumps latest tweet is confusing everyone:

"CHIP should be part of a long term solution, not a 30 Day, or short term, extension!" @realDonaldTrump

Good, CHIP won't be tempting for Dems in this CR.

I don't think he knows not including CHIP takes the pressure off Dems.
