Conservatives also claimed victory on Tuesday night, securing a deal in which legislation they’ve lobbied for for months—Goodlatte’s—would see floor time. The bill, which includes a narrow path to legal status for undocumented immigrants and tougher enforcement measures, won’t pass muster with a majority of the conference. But conservatives will get their vote with the assurance that leadership’s “compromise” package is also unlikely to pass.
I don’t think anyone should be surprised by this lmao. It’s all just a show to try and prevent a blue wave in the House.

If it doesn't pass, can't they try the discharge petition again next month? Hopefully the holdouts will see that they were made fools of and actually take a stand.

I'm not sure how it works exactly. But from what I understand, discharge petitions are rare. Not something they can do whenever they want.

Lmao, leadership backed bill can’t muster even a majority of controlling party’s votes. That should be the narrative.

They can try it again but that effort seems very unlikely to go anywhere. The deadline would be 7/23 which is very close to the August recess. If anything it’ll just be for moderates to be able to say, “hey, we tried.”

That’s what this has been about from the beginning.

From colleague Anne Ball. GOP FL Rep & Immigration discharge petition backer Curbelo says “as soon as this bill passes, DREAMers will have a guaranteed future in this country forever.”

Enough with the conclusive headlines. Wait and let it play out! I swear you guys are a bunch of drama queens lol.

Jeff Denham was on CNN saying the compromise bill would protect DACA folks, people who qualified for DACA but didn't apply and aged in dreamers(guessing he meant aged out) so basically the bill would protect all dreamers and not just a subset

What does he mean by "aged in dreamers"? Is it aged out dreamers? or the ones that were to young to apply to DACA?

Let's see the bill
