Justice Department Wants Ruling on DACA in Supreme Court’s Current Term

The Department of Justice said it will ask the Supreme Court to intervene if an appellate court has not ruled by Oct. 31 on whether the Trump administration can end protections for “Dreamers” who are young immigrants in the country illegally.

In an Oct. 17 letter to the clerk of the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco, a Justice Department lawyer Mark Stern said the action would be necessary to give the litigation a chance of being heard by the Supreme Court in its current term, which ends in June.

daca has to die before the useless congress passes something permanent. My only wish is that it ends in such a way that we all still have valid work permits while they pass and implement something.

You have a weird logic. So you have been harsh on anyone who thinks Republicans will eventually agree to pass a solution for DACA recipients. I don't think anyone here deny that a majority control of both House and Senate should guarantee us a passage, but a crisis like complete rid of DACA and putting 800k young people out of temporary protection and work authorization is more pathetic. So we can get more supports and forcing the politicians to do something because there is an absolute urgency.

So yes, I want DACA to die because I believe we are sitting in limbo right now. Let it die and let the nation cry with us. We need that urgency. You can hold on to your Piano and pretend that there is no passage under Trump's term. You don't know that. If he does sign a bill, I hope you will be excluded. I get to renew in early march. Hopefully I get to sneak in my renewal before DACA is killed at the end of the summer.
