The head of a union representing USCIS employees said late last month that Cuccinelli’s selection would spell "the end of legal immigration as it currently exists.”

“It has become clear that the goal of this administration is to end immigration all together. How better to do that then by appointing as the leader of USCIS someone who knows nothing about immigration, adjustment of status or naturalization, and whose sole purpose is to destroy the agency that grants these benefits,” Danielle Spooner, president of the American Federation of Government Employees, told CNN.

This is dangerous. Republicans in the senate have come out and said no way this guy is getting nominated.

Senator Jeff Merkley
@SenJeffMerkley
That Ken Cuccinelli started today despite not being nominated is unacceptable. Trump is doing an end run around the Senate to sneak his guy in the back door. Cuccinelli’s record on immigration is odious and I urge
@SenateMajLdr
to demand an actual nominee for Senate consideration

I could be missing something, but by what statutory authority did the President purport to appoint Cuccinelli as Acting Director of USCIS? He doesn't meet any of the criteria under the Federal Vacancies Reform Act of 1998:

Cuccinelli is nothing more than a talking head. I’d rather him than kobach as the head of USCIS.

Are you kidding me? He can actually make changes that can make things harder for Daca approvals , AOS adjustments and citizenship applications.

As Bill Maher as stated it's a slow moving coup...if Congress allows Trump to do this for this position what's to stop him from doing it again?
