The House Appropriations Committee on Wednesday approved an amendment that would block the Department of Homeland Security from detaining or deporting people covered by the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals and Temporary Protected Status program.

The DACA program is meant to protect from deportation people who came to the United States illegally or overstayed visas as children. The TPS program is used to protect people from deportation when it would be dangerous for them to return to those countries.

"DACA recipients and TPS holders are building their lives in this country. They have careers, families and businesses here," said Rep. Pete Aguilar (D-Calif.), who sponsored the amendment.

Let's see what Moscow Mitch and Trump say about that. BeingOfCrap will be delighted to hear their position.

So basically DACA then? It changes nothing. What about if we expire?

Exactly. The language matters. They did this I think last year or the year before and it was removed in the final appropriations bill.

This means nothing honestly. Once both parties start fighting each other about how good they are to DACA holders, then maybe something will pass that's better than the bridge act. Of course the goal is to get latino votes but still a prize both parties should want in a major election year.

I think this stops our deportations then leaves it up to Congress to fix our immigration status/work permit situation at a later date.

Lol I think this is a good move especially if Trump proposes a lopsided bill (which he most likely will).

If Trump really cares he will agree to it until they reach a deal on work/immigration status situation.

This is fair since Trump has already received money three times to erect tall border fencing.

It will be removed again.

Watch. This is all for show. Most bills in the House are passed with add-ons that get removed in the end in the Senate.

The rollercoaster keeps on keeping on!

The HEROES Act protects essential workers from deportation: Daca, TPS, and others.
