Trump Administration Seeking To Expand Collection Of Biometric Data From Immigrants

U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services currently requires biometrics, or biological measurements, from anyone over the age of 14 who applies for certain immigration benefits. That information is limited to fingerprints, photographs and signatures, but would be expanded under the proposed policy change to include DNA, eye scans, voice prints and photographs for facial recognition.

According to a draft policy obtained by BuzzFeed News, the government would be allowed to request biometrics from immigrants with green cards or work permits at any point until they become a U.S. citizen, in what amounts to continuous vetting.

seems that way....honestly I think this is the straw that breaks the camel's back for me. The US can rot in hell for all I care if they push this through.

They already do some limited DNA collection. Specially in family based petitions, such as parents petitioning children. The problem here is their are no regulatory laws saying how that DNA will be stored, for how long it will be stored, how it can be used, and whether it can be used for other cases, or shared with other government agencies. You gotta remember we leave our DNA everywhere, hair, spit, smoking a cigarette, etc etc. And while DNA is factual 100% their are ways to interpret its use and where and when it was found to find you guilty of a crime if it is shared with other agencies. That's what scares me. Not too long ago their was a case of a guy who had gone to the hospital in an ambulance, that same day, same ambulance carried a gunshot patient to the hospital who later died. 1st person to be in the ambulance was charged with the crime because their DNA was found in the decreased person's body. And although released later on, because their was camera footage and hospital records, DNA evidence can be misrepresented. Very slippery slope.

They already collect your photo, fingerprints, run a background check, and have documentation on your history. Is this really that much more?

They are just trying to make us pay more for biometrics

Or they want to make sure you're white enough. Or they want to scare new immigrants away with their police state bullshit. Or they want to use this data to curve healthcare benefits from certain immigrants
