I graduated in 2013 with a BS in Computer engineering. I couldn’t work on my field because of my status but now that I will be able to get a work permit I plan to look for a IT/Tech job. What should I put on my resume? What should I say if they ask about the 8 year gap?

Thanks

Explain it as pursuing other paths out of college for personal reasons but now going back to something you love and are passionate about.

Is there an 8-year gap in your work history? That will be hard to explain.

Don't worry about the 8 year gap, a good employer will look at what you have accomplished.

List the following:

- Education
- Academic Awards
- Work experiences, if this is your job after college you're okay to list any work experiences.
- Any IT skills that you may have, such as programing
- List courses taken in college, that may be specific to the job you're applying to
- Community Service, okay if this is your first job after college

Look up resume templates on line. Microsoft Word also has some.

Do not (for the love of God, do not!):
- Mention DACA
- List your GPA, employers do not care
- include a picture

Finally, your resume should be NO MORE than one page long.

Good luck!
