U.S. House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi on Saturday set an Oct. 1 target date for passing President Joe Biden's multitrillion-dollar infrastructure and social spending agenda.

In a "Dear Colleague" letter to her fellow Democrats, Pelosi also warned against delaying next week's expected vote on a $3.5 trillion budget resolution that some party centrists have threatened not to support.

"Any delay to passing the budget resolution threatens the timetable for delivering the historic progress and the transformative vision that Democrats share," the top House Democrat said in the letter.

I always have said if something comes out in favor for the dreamers it will be from the Democrats

Make your voice count on social media, and show support to those that want to help you. Let's make sure this goes all the way through the finish line.

Democratic leaders hope to approve a "rule" Monday that sets up a vote, most likely for Tuesday, on the budget resolution, which would instruct committees to write a $3.5 trillion package of expansions of the social safety net and tax increases on upper earners. It can pass both chambers without any Republican support.

"I don't know how this is going to play out in the House with the so-called centrists. Are they going to continue to stand up to the president, or are they going to fall in line?" said Jim Manley, a lobbyist and former Democratic leadership aide. "I'm not quite sure what the endgame is here, but I learned a long time ago not to bet against Speaker Pelosi.

Pressed Monday by CNN's Jim Sciutto if he was willing to take the chance to have that vote first and risk the two bills, Gottheimer was confident the Democrats were not risking anything.

"I believe both will move forward and get done. I think we'll work this out. You know, I'm ready to sit at the table and so are my colleagues ready to sit at the table and figure this out. And we can," he said on "Newsroom." "But there's no reason to wait four, five months or more sitting on this infrastructure package and risking that or threatening and holding it hostage like some of my colleagues are doing. That just doesn't make sense."

Gottheimer also said Monday he has spoken with Pelosi, adding "I think the votes from all of our caucus, if we voted on infrastructure today, that they would all be there."

Despite the back-and-forth, Hoyer expressed optimism that Democrats will stick together during the call on Tuesday, saying, according to a source, "I know that we have some arguments about who goes first, and the fact of the matter is that we will be doing all of the above. And it has been clear in the Senate, House and White House that we will be doing all of the above and I am hopeful that we will all vote for the rule Monday night."
