Although this legislation has not yet been brought to the floor, democratic leadership, including cosponsor Sen. Harry Reid, have made a push for the bill to be debated and discussed. The current version of the senate bill has 40 cosponsors, the majority being democrats, could potentially be brought to the floor sometime in the coming month. This may be a way for the Federal Government to repress the States and prove that their legislation can be used to trump acts taken by States with regard to immigration.

Keep up the advocacy work!!

--when did Reid say that he's going to push for it to be debated on? Did I miss that--was it just me?

senate's agenda: With three weeks until the Senate leaves for the August recess, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said last week that he hopes to bring forward and energy bill next week, take action on the DISCLOSE Act that tightens corporate and union campaign contribution limits and has already passed through the House, finish the FAA reauthorization and hold a vote on a new tax extenders bill. The President and some members of Congress are still advocating an immigration reform bill.

What if Reid's replacement calls the bill amnesty and refuses to support it?
