Hello Again from Indiana.. Representing LYC(The Latino Youth collective of Indiana).. Recently our senator from Indiana, Richard Lugar, with other senator have reintroduced the Bill. Now it is time for us to give them the support they need. It means that making PHONE Calls, Mail, Fax and demonstrations are the most effective way to let them know that We are backing them up.. From now on let us make Heist.. there is no time for us to be planning.. we already know how to act and not dream. We all already know what to do.. we have been trained for years to move crowds and make calls and other Productive Stuff. ... So lets get our hands glued to the phone, pens, paper, fax and other productive materials.

If you are from Indiana PLease come and celebrate with Senator Lugar and us.. read more Below

THIS IS SOMETHING FROM MY FRIEND HAPPY TO SEE Dream Introduced.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Today is a day of hope – hope that change can really happen for so many young people who DREAM of a better future through education. The Development, Relief and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act is being introduced in the U.S. Senate today!! And I refuse to let the opposition, the lack of time and/or the excuses of "I don't know what to say" bring me down because this legislation is too important to wait another year.
Please take a few minutes to make a difference for the kids, some of whom you know personally in Indiana, who will be affected by DREAM. I urge you to call Senators Lugar and Bayh as well as your representative to tell them the DREAM Act must pass in 2009!! Contact information can be found below.

Other actions you can take to support DREAM 2009:
Join The Latino Youth Collective and Senator Lugar at Ivy Tech Community College on Saturday, March 28 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. in celebration of the DREAM Act's reintroduction. (Flyer is attached; please feel free to email questions about the event and/or to let us know you are coming!)
Email your Senators and Representative with a few clicks: http://www.change.org/ideas/932/view..._the_dream_act
Sign the National DREAM Petition in less than a minute: http://dreamact2009.com

Ask everyone you see today to do the same!!

I thank you from the bottom of my heart for reading this email and taking action.
-- Kathy

SCRIPT FOR CALL-IN
"I'm calling to ask Representative _______ to co-sponsor and/or vote in favor of the DREAM Act.
This bi-partisan & bicameral federal proposal would provide a path to lawful permanent residence for individuals who were brought to this country years ago as undocumented immigrant children. The only students who would benefit from this bill are high achievers who contribute to their communities, have learned English, pledge love and allegiance to this nation, have successfully graduated from a U.S. high school despite many barriers, have been accepted into a 2 or 4 year university OR serve the U.S. armed forces, AND have a clean record with the law."
Official DREAM Website
Visit the official DREAM website - http://dreamactivist.org/ it has tons of helpful information and useful tips to become active supporters of the DREAM.

What is the DREAM Act? The Development, Relief, and Education for Alien Minors (DREAM) Act ensures that
the United States benefits from keeping the best and brightest students in the country by allowing them to become productive contributors to the country's economy. It is a bipartisan, bicameral* piece of legislation that responds to the demographic realities of American society by acknowledging the potential contributions of some of our nation's most talented, dedicated, and patriotic youth. This piece of legislation ensures that no child in American is denied their dream of having a better life if they are willing to work for it.

It allows undocumented students who have resided in the U.S. for more than five years, were brought to the U.S. as minors, have no criminal records, and have successfully graduated from a four-year U.S. high school to obtain conditional residence which will allow them to attend an institution of higher education or join a military service. It provides zero benefits for immigrants who are not already here or who have resided in the US for less than five years.

Can you please write that title properly? It looks like it was written by a 12 year old in an AOL chatroom. Thanks.

I was calling and emailing this afternoon. It is very easy. Everyone needs to do this. Call today, call tomorrow, keep calling. Call during the day. Call at night. Leave messages. If we want this to succeed, we must do this. We must have more callers than the xenophobes.

We should call the members of the Senate Judiciary Committee and more specifically, members of the Immigration Subcommittee. That is where the bill is right now. It must have support in these areas before it can come to a full Senate vote.

These are the members:

Senate Judiciary Committee: http://judiciary.senate.gov/about/members.cfm

Senate Immigration Subcommittee: http://judiciary.senate.gov/about/su...mmigration.cfm
