when I saw that immigrant guy ready to cry, the way he just wanted to keep back the crying; but he just couldn't... oh man i got goosebumps all over... I work with these guys at construction. Our boss is really nice, he buys us lunch and drives us home after work. they wait on the street corners for a job... once our van stops; even to buy a coffee; they all just storm the vehicle, begging for work...

some of them are my age, they left home all alone so they can send money back to help their families. the clock never stops ticking, we only get older every year... to me; most of these guys have given up on a good life.

"they are taking my job"... fuck that, no one is taking MY job, i dare them to try... if you work, and do your job right, no1 will fire you. you have to do what you gotta do, to keep food on the table. tough times have hit the whole world, not just U.S. so instead of waiting for your unemployment benefit to come, get your ass to work.. craigslist.com is full of jobs.

this country was built on competition and innovation... not on lazy slobs.

Cool video, but I don't know, it was pretty clear from the beginning that the cashier was either an actor or completely out of his mind. First rule of any business especially a "stop and shop" like this one is that you never want to lose clientele, especially at a time like this when the economy isnt that great. The part "we don't want your illegal money here" was priceless. I was like WTF?

On the other hand, I don't care if you're fresh of a boat, a plane or were teleported here. A guy going to a deli should know how to ask for coffee. Basically, All you have to do is say "coffee", any cashier will understand and serve you. A guy bothering other customers(that don't look Latino), in Spanish nonetheless, would make me a little annoyed if I were the one at the register. I never would say anything but it doesn't mean it wouldn't bother me a little. Everyone, I don't care if you work all 24 hours a day and never sleep, can learn like 10 necessary phrases. No one should expect them to speak it fluently, but the least you can do is learn a couple of lines and make your own life easier.

The guy at the end, however, seemed like a really good guy. I don't think I would have the nerve to stand up for them like that, but this may stem from the fact that I am undocumented myself. It shows that there are still some good people in the world.

All in all, this is another proof of a this psychological theory(i forgot the name, someone here must be a psych major) that its much easier to express one's prejudices in public if there is at least one other person expressing them; in this case the actor/cashier.

I agree that everyone should be able to order coffee, but I'm not sure it would bother me per se. I'd probably be inclined to try and help them instead.

And the term you're looking for is the Bandwagon Effect - it's actually a social bias.
