Anti-Illegal Immigration
Proposal Passes
Updated: Thursday, 25 Jun 2009, 8:19 AM MDT
Published : Thursday, 25 Jun 2009, 8:19 AM MDT

Lawmakers are considering an anti-illegal immigration proposal and some members of a church community aren't on board.

The proposal is sponsored by Republican Senator Russell Pearce. It would require local and state officials to enforce federal immigration laws, making any sanctuary laws illegal.

Pearce said no public input would be allowed, but when some people stood up to speak against it, one woman quoted a verse in the Bible, "When an alien lives with you in your land, do not mistreat him." Pearce asked security to remove them and four Democrats then left the room.

The proposal passed seven to zero.

A similar thing happened here in Utah. I can't remember if it was SB 81 or another controversial bill, but the LDS church (which has a lot of influence here). They were saying the bill was against civil rights and that it would hurt the economy and that it would make Utah seem not immigrant-friendly and hateful. Well, it passed anyway.

I am really appalled at these xenophobic ignorants who fail to realize that this country is built by immigrants. By passing anti-immigration bills, they are only overlooking America's founding principles and disgracing their own ancestors. I'm not even mad at them at this point, I just pity their narrowminded views.

they are making everything harder and harder, I am sure in two years they will have hooked up nationwide databases where local police will know who you are in seconds.
