I was wondering if anyone is in the same situation in IN possibly to start some awareness or support group. Cause, I get really frustrated when I can't talk to people about it other than the internet, and even then they're in California or somewhere. If so please shoot me an email at [email protected]
It could either be because I just had a bad day where knowing that I can't do as much as other people just built up, that it's 3 in the morning, or that I just have out there ideas but...
I feel like one of the most unrealistic people here simply because I'm pursuing a degree in Film Studies. I know, what will I do with that, as if knowing that I'm not exactly "needed" or "wanted" to be eligible even for a work permit. But, I digress.
Now, this is going to sound crazy and possibly a bit radical but since I am a Film Studies major and I am an undocumented student I've been rattling around this idea of a Documentary. I'm not sure if one has been done. I don't even know if anyone would be willing to do this. However, it could possibly be used as an awareness device. I know we're spread across the U.S. which, honestly, I don't think my degree will be finished anytime soon so I'm okay with taking a few months off to possibly road trip across the U.S. to make this.
Since Immigration Reform doesn't even seem to be thought to be brought up until next year, there would be months to do this. I think it might help for the cause to put faces to the stories. I know the concern would be revealing yourself which is why I'm posting this to see if anyone would even be willing to.
Of course, this will take effort, time, and money and span over months. But if there are people out there who would be willing to share their story, who knows, we could send it to all the representatives.
Also in Indiana there is a film festival which I think something like this would be good for in spreading the word about people like us who are in this situation. I probably would have done this had I known there were so many people in the same situation as I am.
I know this sounds like a far fetched idea, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

Well, there goes another dream, though I suppose I could still do it. I watched the trailers and it seemed to focus on the border "issue." Ugh, it just bothers me, cause I feel like I could have done more but I guess I should be happy that there is even something. Unfortunately another damper on the day.
I want to get into films too, and I'm actually writing a movie I plan to shoot with my friends at the moment. I just need to figure out how I'm going to edit everything.
