They had a deal on the tax-cut legislation. One republican objected last minute so now Dems are going to exclude Republican proposals.

The objection from 1 Republican caught Mitch McConnell off-guard as well. So there you go. I am hoping that this break within the GOP will become more prevalent in the future.

But folks, the way it looks, DA doesn't have the votes and we simply don't have the leverage to yank their arms.

Certainly, it doesn't seem there will be enough votes to break a Republican filibuster if the trend continues. Everywhere I read an articles, there seem to be only hate filled comments toward dreamers and the Dream Act. I wish I could enlighten their ignorance toward the Dream Act.

Nobody knows about this. You have no idea how many votes we have. Republicans will be divided when they become the majority (Which I hope doesn't happen, but history tends to repeat itself). The 5th version of the Dream Act is a strategical move by Reid and Durbin, I believe they know what they are doing.

Because if they don't taxes will go up for every family which would make the democrats look horrible seeing that means a family making 50k a year together would pay and additional 3k in taxes this year. And as shown by the votes today on all Tax legislation the parties are both standing there ground the republicans voted down every Tax bill. Republicans want to work on those two items and go into the new senate that is all there going to do before next year. Dream Act, Dont ask dont tell, extension of unemployment benefits will be left for the new congress.
government funding is done. passed both houses yesterday.
