Obama to address Latino civil rights group in July CBS

(AP) WASHINGTON (AP) — The White House says President Barack Obama plans to address this year's conference of the major Hispanic civil rights organization, the National Council of La Raza.

Thousands are expected to attend the gathering in Washington from July 23-26.

The president of NCLR, Janet Murgia, said Wednesday that Hispanics will want to hear from Obama on a range of issues, including those on which he has yet to take action.

Obama has been heavily criticized by some in the Latino community for his failure to move immigration reform, which he promised in his 2008 campaign to tackle in the first year of his presidency.

The president has also drawn criticism for his administration's immigration enforcement efforts, which led to a record number of deportations last year.

Ahh, the obligatory "pandering to Latino voters by talking about immigration reform and how the president has absolutely no power whatsoever but that he is dedicated to the cause" speech.

I hope the house passes E-verify on July 22 to push Obama into actually doing something instead of just usual BS talks
