Last week Representative Luis Gutierrez (D-IL) joined a demonstration in Washington D.C. to protest the refusal of President Obama to use his executive powers to halt the deportations of the undocumented. Gutierrez’ arrest came only two days after Obama had addressed a conference of the National Council of La Raza. Conveniently forgetting the history of the civil right struggles that made his Presidency a possibility, Obama reminded those attending that he was bound to “uphold the laws on the books.”

Why would this be the good news lol. Obama is an asshole. At least it's a given that he wont win a second term.

What you people don't understand is that in order for the DREAM Act to pass, a LOT of illegals, most non-eligible, will have to be deported.

Exactly. Obama/the Federal Government, must show that they have at least done something to curb the illegal immigration "problem." Without doing so, it will make it almost impossible to pass any sort of CIR.

And who might you suggest take his place as president? Michele Bachmann? Mitt Romney? Sarah Palin? Like it or not, Obama is our only hope of anything remotely favorable passing in the next 6 years...and if you believe he can just wave a magical wand and make all of our problems go away then you should learn a bit on how the constitution works and civics and how that relates to our modern political clusterfuck.

It doesn't matter who takes office buddy. Obama has already proven that he can't do a damn thing. People are angry and they're making it clear that they do not want Obama to win a second term. Obama is not our only hope. There is no hope for us Dreamers. Did you forget what happened last year? The Dream Act died even though Democrats had a super majority in the House and a majority in the Senate. At this point even if Democrats regain those seats next year it wont make a difference. The GOP is dead set against Obama. It doesn't matter who wins in 2012. We're screwed either way.

Let me rephrase it for you.

Would they self deport in order for us Dreamers to become legal?

It's their fault we're in this mess.
