Guys,

As I mentioned in another thread, one way we could pressure Democrats to compromise on Rubio's (and maybe GOP co-sponsors) alternative to the DREAM Act is to gather signatures showing our support via an online petition and then send out the petition to reporters, GOP contacts, etc. to reveal that not everyone from our community is on board with Senator Reid's plans to block the GOP alternative. And, in doing so, we could get Rubio's attention and have him mention us/post our stories on his website.

Of course, we still need to see what the bill looks like. But, this is a start. Here is a website where we can create a free online petition to circulate!

http://www.ipetitions.com/start-petition/

We could circulate it on facebook, twitter, etc.

This is going to be super important because the voice of the dreamers complaining about Rubio's bill will be loud, so we need to counter that voice and, thus, pressure both sides to a compromise.

Or, we can even ciruclate a petition now declaring that we would be more than happy to support the GOP alternative to the DA if and only if the age is not set low or includes a retroactive clause. What do you guys think?????????????! This is important. We could write the purpose of the petition together. Such a petition could then pressure the Democrats to compromise.

Not supporting this bill. It would basically grant you with a temp visa and then back to your country you go. Good luck getting back.

It's better than nothing....

You would rather continue living the way you do now than to have an opportunity to better your future?

I think any type of visa will be better than waiting for nothing. DREAM ACT is the best for us but I don't think it is going to pass anytime soon. So some of us will be aged out. This alternative version will bring us out of the shadow. We can always find a way to become a citizen if you want to or you can easily relocate to a different country. However, we need to see what the bill looks like and who will sponsor it first. If there are quite a lot of republicans support it, I think we don't have to worry who will be the next president!!

I'm not in the US anymore but I'm trying to help. You should watch Erin Brokovich sometime. They went into arbitration because all of the people in the town were dying of cancer. They could have got a lot more money if they went to court, but it could have taken 15 or 20 years.

Its the same analogy. Some of you guys are gonna shoot it down, and 15 years from now when you are still doing crappy jobs and not driving legally, you are gonna wonder why you were so stupid. Of course by then the 10 year ban will be up for me and if I even want to go back to the US, I'm sure I'll probally be legal before all of you.

Oh yeah, one year down, nine to go.

I agree with this petition thing. We need to get Rubio's attention or the idiots who oppose it will make him think that all of us dont like it either. Yet in reality the people who oppose it are a small percentage of us like Baneling here -_-
