There may be no progress in 10 years

WASHINGTON, DC - While it is easy to recognize, leaders and experts in the field said they realize immigration immigration reform, it could take 10 years. Meanwhile, the government acknowledged flaws in the application of the current immigration control, despite the changes.

Whose fault is it that there is no immigration reform? Join the Immigration Forum .

It was a morning discussion forum organized by Hamilton Project, Brookings Institution. There, employers, unions, Hispanic leaders and analysts, outlined his vision of the current status of a new law.
A proposal designed by the analyst Giovanni Peri, entitled "Rationalizing migration policy", proposed a method based on a substantial change in the visa system, demand-driven labor market.

Complicated scenario
However, before talking about new plans, various stakeholders in the discussion, put a touch of reality to meet. "There is a deep fear among Republicans, that immigrants will vote for Democrats, should be legalized. Do not see any movement on reform in the next 10 years," said Edward Schumacher-Matos, former director of the migration program and integration of Harvard University.

"The scenario could be different depending on what happens in the next election. If the {{{RIGHT WING (Arpaio type) EXTREMISTS}}} of the Republican Party do good in polls, then {{{THERE WONT}}} be progress for immigration reform for 10 years or more. If {{{REPUBLICAN EXTREMISTS}}} do poorly, then there is an opportunity within the next five years, "emphasized John Wilhelm, president of the union United Here.

"Nothing to happen in the next 10 years? That could be, but I hope we can strengthen the sense of urgency of this issue," said Janet Murguia, president of the National Council of La Raza.
"I hope we do not have to wait 10 years, but I {{{DONT}}} see a strong coalition to push this issue. With the current political polarization it could take that long," he said Marschall Smith, vice president for legal affairs of the company 3M.

Lack of partners
For its part, the director of the Domestic Policy Council, Cecilia Muñoz, recognized that while seeking allies to advance the immigration issue, the new immigration control strategy applied by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), is flawed.
"It is unreasonable to expect that these tools, regardless of how faithfully applied, can fix what is wrong with our immigration system. And it is unreasonable to expect that these positive reforms prevent injustices from occurring in the system," he said commenting on the strategy to prioritize the deportation of criminals and various administrative changes.
DHS has received significant criticism from activist groups, especially after the delivery of preliminary figures on extraordinary review in 300,000 cases pending deportation.

Nothing written (Rubio Bill)
Also, the White House officially responded to the Dream Act proposal by Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL).
"We note with interest the developing discussion of a possible alternative by a single Republican senator. Although we have not seen the proposal itself, I say the same thing I have told the students of the DREAM Act: we are willing to listen and our door remains open to serious ally who is willing to cross it and achieve progress, "said Munoz.

"At the same time, what we have heard so far, including the Speaker of the House of Representatives and other Republicans in Congress, is that no proposal as such, has a shot in his chamber," he said.

One issue that did not touch Obama adviser and that is causing problems for the government is increasing pressure from various groups, the creation of an executive order to a complete stop the deportation of young people who would benefit from the DREAM Act .
On Thursday, United We Dream will launch a national campaign to promote the measure. "The President should change his record and DREAMers throughout the country, he will push to give them administrative relief they need," explained a statement issued by the students.
For now, the White House has not commented about a possible change in this area. So far the President has said that its obligation is to comply with immigration laws.

Again, why do you think the Democrap "leadership" in Congress hasn't said a peep? The plan is to take up to a decade to register all the undocumented. And to set up the 2016 election for the Democrats again with the promise that the next Democratic president after Obama will "finish" what Obama has started.

There is another scenario that immigration reform "could" pass tomorrow.

Scenarios, scenarios, scenarios.

Maybe because people like a touch of reality from time to time instead of rah rah rah articles so they can make plans with their lives

The Brookings Institute held an immigration reform panel discussion earlier this month and all participants agreed that it could take that long, if at all, to enact any "reform". It is an opinion, but from the panelists, including Cecilia Munoz, Janet Murguia, and all others, not Univision. Be informed before you dismiss genuine information.

we have to see reality also, this is not a 'negative' article, its people who want this stuff to pass, but are even having to admit it, read the article and think about it for a while with all the other stuff thats been passing, things havent exactly turned for the better besides that morton memo, things are looking worse each day if things keep going this way, are they really going to reform something as messy as immigration in 1 month? just look at health reform, that took atleast a year of really nasty fighting and working on it, immigration simply hasnt even had that interest, the most we got was a passing vote as congress was going out of session when theyd already lost their seats on the last day pretty much, i really hope these people are wrong, but we cant be foolish either, looking past the illusions and speeches, the actions taken are getting harder and harder

And in the mean time we get nothing? No work authorization? No driver's license? Not even a visa? And just sit by as year after year states create more and more laws designed to make our lives worse? If this is what the road ahead looks like, then I don't know what will happen to the undocumented population here.

It makes me realize that the Obama administration never saw SB1070 or these other laws coming. They thought everything was going to be roses and sunshine until the 2012 election. While they wait 10 years to fix a problem 20 years in the making, the U.S. will suffer and watch other countries that have adjusted their immigration policy to fit their economic needs flourish.

I guess they don't care about that, though.

^This. At the end of the day some of us who are in our mid 20s have decisions to make before we end up having wasted more time.
