The President of the United States: IMMEDIATELY release every DREAMer in detention centers

http://www.change.org/petitions/the-...ention-centers

Get undocumented youths out of the detention NOW. Don’t let Obama waste time and dreams of our youth in detention, like he did with the false promise of prosecutorial discretion a year ago.

I am undocumented and am tired of false promises made to my family, friends, neighbors, and community.

We know that under the pressure of undocumented immigrant rights activists, Obama made an announcement on Fri, June 15th that DREAMers will not be subject to deportation proceedings and that some of them would be eligible for work permits. But a year ago, he made a similar promise of not priortizing the deportation of DREAMers--prosecutorial discretion--and it was a lie.

With LESS THAN 1% of detained cases closed under prosecutorial discretion, we know that Obama’s prosecutorial discretion was a FALSE promise made for electoral gains.

Unlike Obama’s announcement on Friday June 15th, his instruction through Janet Napolitano’s memo to Department of Homeland Security was NOT an executive order nor does it prevent DHS from denying eligible cases. Its eligibility criteria specifying the applicant should not have “significant misdemeanor” will cause the same problem we faced under prosecutorial discretion--DHS unreasonably and freely denying cases using a loose definition of “threat to the community” including minor offenses, traffic tickets, and for the most part just being undocumented.

We, as a community, need to hold Obama accountable for his statements. I was in jail for a civil disobedience action I did in Philadelphia last March to stand up for the undocumented community. From the experience, I know that it is not fair that so many lives are being wasted at the detention center for months and years for just being undocumented.

DREAMers are being denied freedom at this moment. Sign the petition NOW to demand Obama to release DREAMers IMMEDIATELY from the detention centers and be free to go home to their families, their loved ones, their schools, their churches, and their communities.

I agree with this. Not jumping to any conclusion but my initial reaction with all these dreamers still held is that this is a small conspiracy by the Obama administration to make immigrants donate for his campaign. We will find out very soon. IF a SINGLE DACA application is rejected for someone who is clearly eligible, we will know this is the truth.

My friend made that petition! She also organized a rally in Oakland when Obama came to visit for a fundraiser.

Obama is the best hope we Dreamers have for the next 4 years.

If Romney wins he will be re elected.for another term by the electoral college wich he.would own by the end of his first term.

Obama tried to keep his promise to us Dreamers but the Senate never approved it and it never reached the presidents desk.
Obama had no choice but.to exercise an executive Order and bypass Congress to give us a safe haven for 2 years.... MAKE IT WORTH IT DREAMERS!!!!

Wrong. President Obama did NOT use his executive order powers for DACA. It was a policy change, its crucial to note this because the opposition will only pain President Obama as a Congress-bypassing-apologizing-socialist President.

Tell me something I don't know! Republicans will call Pres. Obama every name in the book.

I sure am tired of even taking the REPs seriously. I just hope there is filibuster reform that actually gets us back to true majority rule in government.
