4. Taking the lead on immigration

CNN's White House Producer Lesa Jansen writes, "I want to hear from the president on his strategy for passing bipartisan, comprehensive immigration reform.

"After winning back the White House with an astounding 71% of the Latino vote, can the president lay out a plan to tackle the immigration issue? Republicans are apparently ready to sign on but House Speaker John Boehner recently said it is the president who must lead. Appearing on the Spanish-language television network Univision before the election, Obama said the 'greatest failure' of his presidency was not being able to pass immigration reform. Will this issue help to shape the Obama legacy?"

Yes , the GOP are lining up already to pass CIR. This will pass next year for sure. My question is how are the dreamers going to adjust to permanent residency. I imagine it should be fairly quick ?

They should use DACA as a preliminary set of requirements but add the other requirements for DA. Like going to college before receiving conditional permanent residence.

So do you both think that DA will continue to be a standalone bill or do you think only CIR will pass?

Looks like CIR with DA rolled in, or nothing at all. DA is a half assed solution to immigration. Everyone at this point wants a complete solution.

Nobody I mean absolutely nobody thinks that the Republicans wants those, if CIR would pass, that will benefit from said legislatoin to get in "back of the line".

That is going to creat such a huge backlog. As it now with us going through DACA. They will have to give them a pemporary lawful residence, but I tell you, that some will argue that there are people outside the US waiting to immigrate legally who are not in the US and can't come into the US while other people are getting pemporary lawful residence. That will cause an upoar with some people and some republicans.

And by the way if you are from Mexico or the Phillipines, and are over 21, getting in the "back"of the line means waiting at the very least two decades. So are they going to be in "pemporary" lawful prefence for over 20 years?
