Hey guys,
Been approved, waiting for my SSN Card and DL in the mail though
I am E-Verified I checked..now as I apply for jobs..there are some that require two job references from the past. Now, I've had previous jobs in the past but they were "under the table". So I'm wondering should I put this and their phone numbers as well? How does the background check work? Will my employers check that I worked there in the past? Because obviously it won't show up because my SSN was never valid for work I always got paid cash.

Please let me know what you guys think. Should I just put the two references as job exp?

Yes they will, but don't worry too much about them being "under the table". What you should do though is gather up the info of those you will put down as a reference and ask them if its okay to do so and of course, tell them people will be calling them to ask them about you. If you don't want them to disclose that you were a "cash" employee, tell them so, but they usually don't ask that. They just ask them things like if you were a good worker, on time, motivated, etc.

You should have a minimum of 3 professional references ready, preferably that of your supervisors, and 3 personal references, people you've known a long time.

As far as the background check, I'm not sure how that works if you've never had a ssn. Usually they make you sign a form with your name & info, including DOB, SSN, and a driver's license.

Have you volunteered anywhere for a long period of time? Could you perhaps have a professor be a reference? All I know is make sure the person knows you are putting them down as a reference and that they will talk good about you too and actually know enough about you. Good luck!
