I guess Rubio might have some relevance in the debate if Ryan supports his plan.
Quote:
House Budget Committee chairman Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) supports Sen. Marco Rubio's (R-Fla.) immigration reform blueprint.

"Sen. Rubio is exactly right on the need to fix our broken immigration system," Ryan wrote on his Facebook on Monday. "I support the principles he’s outlined: modernization of our immigration laws; stronger security to curb illegal immigration; and respect for the rule of law in addressing the complex challenge of the undocumented population. Our future depends on an immigration system that works."

Ryan's endorsement gives a boost to Rubio's efforts. Both Republicans are seen as potential GOP candidates for president in 2016.

Rubio outlined his preferred approach to immigration reform in a recent interview with The Wall Street Journal. He argued the best way to tackle immigration reform would be through passing a series of bills instead of a single omnibus package.

Rubio also wants undocumented immigrants to come forward and go through a process to get legal status that could include background checks, paying a fine and back taxes and possibly community service. That process also includes the option of eventually becoming a citizen.

Legislators in both the House and the Senate have begun quiet negotiations on immigration reform. Rep. Luis Gutierrez (D-Ill.) a leading Democrat on immigration reform, has held discussions with Ryan on the topic.

It's a 3 step process:
Step 1: Taller fence
Step 2: More e-verify
Step 3: Stop cooperating and accuse democrats of playing politics.

Anybody see a trend developing here? Immigration comes to the front burner and EVERYBODY talks about it ---> Marco Rubio starts claiming that he has a plan --> We constantly hear reports that the "Rubio Plan" is in works...and what happens next? Well last year absolutely nothing was introduced by Rubio. Obama ended up signing DACA into effect. Same shit is going on right now. Rubio does not and WILL NOT introduce or make any details public. The main question is..WHY IS HE DOING THIS? Lets use this thread to speculate. My theory is that he does not want the country's non-cuban undocumented immigrants to get legal status and he holds a grudge against Obama and does not want to award him another political victory. He is using this tactic to DELAY the negotiations until 2014 elections, because we all know historically immigration has never been debated during election years. This is a wicked strategy to derail us. Obama must stand tough and show this guy who is boss. Here is my prediction. CIR will pass as Obama intends it by August. Soon after Rubio will release a statement whining and accusing Obama of "poisoning the well" again. End of story.

rubio is definitely a poster child for republican. he went from being hated and suddenly ascended to godhood when he first came up with his empty plan months ago, which didn't happen. now he's back to being hated again. wasn't he an immigrant himself at a point? he would sing a different tune if he didn't get a path to citizenship.
