As the bipartisan group of U.S. Senator’s known as the “Gang of Eight” gets ready to introduce comprehensive immigration reform legislation details are slowing leaking out as to what the bill will contain.

AP is reporting that any undocumented individual that illegally entered the U.S. after December 31, 2011 will not be granted a path to citizenship. Individuals deemed qualified to apply for citizenship must show gainful employment and “financial stability” to ensure they will not be a burden to the government. Citizenship candidates cannot have a criminal record, which may include misdemeanors.

These people really need to learn how to report immigration news like this. Citizenship is still years and years away. It could take literally a decade or more to become a citizen. Writing things like "Apply for Citizenship" would further rile up the anti-immigrant public into thinking that this is out right amnesty but both you and me know how difficult of a path this will be.

Exactly, the title should be, New Immigration Bill Will Deny Chance to Earn Citizenship to Those Arriving After 2011.

Of course it is, those are federal funds. That's why the more liberal supporters of CIR are so pissed off about the way they are going about legalizing us. They'll give us the right for 10 years to be in the country and work our asses off, but not qualify for any federal assistance programs.

almost every major bipartisan bill will either appear liberal or conservative at the beginning. as the issue progress and they debate about it. when they vote in house or senate, they will add amendments and make appear moderate. its just for show. keep in mind they pull the same stunt for 2010 DA bill.

Meh, more generous that my estimate of at least 5 years in US. They cut it down to 2-3.
