I beginning to think that Senator Leahy is really serious about the issue of immigration considering the amount of hearings thus far and more to come. This is the upcoming hearing and meeting.

Ianus, when do you think S.744 can hit the Senate floor? Maybe next month? Expecting some more fireworks today at the hearing. Please provide live updates those who are watching.

Immigration legislation in the Congress will always draw its major share of contention and is faaaaaar from beginning. The real fireworks I think will begin in the Senate Judiciary and Senate I think between May 10th-late June.

The main battle I think is when we get Boehner's decision on how he will proceed on immigration.

Oh wow okay. I was under the impression the current hearings are a part of the judiciary committee. But it seems like they're just hearings made up of a panel from the judiciary. Is there a scheduled time when the bill will go into the judiciary and how does it proceed from there? If the Senate passes this bill, I think all the pressure will be on Boehner to show leadership and get the ball rolling. The Senate has pretty much done all the work for him. His problem is his conservative contingent and their views towards CIR.

Yeah, these are Senate Judiciary hearings but what I should have clarified concerning May 10th-late June is when the actual process from Senate Judiciary mark-up to full Senate vote during that timeline seemed reasonable.

Boehner is the make or break person to this entire process and no one really knows what he is going to do.
